Marc Deboer recieves FDU's 2015 Outstanding Young Alumni Award

2015 Oct 27

During this year's Homecoming weekend, Fairleigh Dickinson University honored Marc Deboer with the 2015 Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

The Outstanding Young Alumni Award is presented to an FDU alumnus who has graduated in the past 15 years and has achieved exceptional success in his or her profession. Recipients are recognized as emerging leaders in their fields or for their services to the University.

DeBoer graduated from FDU with a B.S. in business management in 2007. He has since built a tremendously successful career in human resources recruiting, with a focus on temporary and third-party staffing. In 2013, DeBoer formed his own business, A Better Interview, LLC - a company dedicated to helping people focus on their job search through mock interviewing and resume rewriting. In 2014, Forbes magazine listed A Better Interview in its "Top 100 Websites For Your Career."

Prior to venturing into the world of entrepreneurship, DeBoer served as the head of talent acquisition at Rothstein Kass, and as business development officer at Obsidian Assiciates, brokering multi-million dollar recruiting contracts and setting high hiring paces for the companies.

Aside from his professional successes, DeBoer has always made an effort to remain involved with FDU. He has dedicated countless hours in support of the Devils Athletics, and has recently joined FDU's Silberman College of Business as a career specialist consultant. DeBoer had always wanted to give back to students and his alma mater, and combining his recruitment skills with his dedication to FDU, he decided to accept the position to focus on improving student career placement rates and revamp Silberman's career development services. DeBoer's immense success in the field of human resources and his support of FDU students render him a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

The award ceremony was held at FDU's Florham Campus on Saturday, October 17th, 2015, in conjunction with the University's Annual Homecoming/Family Weekend.

Devoted to the preparation of world citizens through global education, Fairleigh Dickinson University is New Jersey's largest private university and features more than 100 liberal arts and professional degree programs, two international campuses, dozens of partnerships with internationally renowned institutions and special programs and status within the United Nations.
