2014 Apr 3

Marcela Alzate-Gomez, of Dover, NJ, a student on Fairleigh Dickinson University's Metropolitan Campus, located in Teaneck, NJ, has been granted Emerald membership in the Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) honor society for the Spring 2014 semester.

Founded in 1989, the XAE honor society was organized in 1989 to acknowledge the continuing success of students. Its purpose is to promote continued high academic standards, foster increased communication among its members, and honor the academic excellence of those students admitted to college via developmental or Higher Education Opportunity- type programs.

Membership into XAE is offered to eligible students and alumni through local campus chapters. Students who maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA for two consecutive, full time semesters are eligible for membership.

All members are encouraged to strive for Jewel Membership. A Ruby Jewel is bestowed upon members who achieve a 3.5 - 3.74 semester GPA. An Emerald Jewel is the reward for a semester average of 3.75 - 3.99. A Diamond Jewel is for members who achieve a perfect 4.0-semester average.

The University's Metropolitan Campus, located in the dynamic New York/New Jersey corridor in Teaneck, N.J., features a university atmosphere with an international perspective, attracting students from the United States and around the world. Undergraduates have access to the resources of a major graduate center and nearby New York City as an integral part of their learning experience.
