Paige Kristensen a semifinalist in Fairleigh Dickinson University innovation contest

2014 Apr 18

Point Pleasant Borough High School Senior, Paige Kristensen, of Point Pleasant, NJ, has been recognized as a semifinalist in Fairleigh Dickinson University's Rothman Institute of Entrepreneurship's 2014 New Jersey Idea Competition.

Kristensen's idea was Tellmeinten.com.

In Kristensen's own words: Tellmeinten.com is a search engine website much like Google, but instead of website listings, how-to videos are displayed after searching the topic desired. Studies show people's attention spans only stay focused for a short amount of time. The hit app for smartphones right now is the app called Vine, which consist of short 6 second video clips which is perfect for catching the viewers' attention for the full time. Taking this into consideration, Tellmeinten.com has short how-to video clips referring to the key words searched by the user in the search bar. The videos explain the task in ten or less easy to comprehend steps allowing the user to quickly gain understanding of the chosen search.

The contest is an annual competition designed to help foster an entrepreneurial mindset among all New Jersey high school students. Divided into Northern, Central, and Southern regions, more than 800 students across the state submitted more than 520 ideas this year. Each region had a winner (Northern had two), four finalists, and eight semifinalists.
